Tips For Salvaging Your Old Beauty Products The cost of cosmetics are getting higher and higher each passing year. Because of this, it is more common for women to want to salvage the cosmetic products that may have been thrown away. Use the tips below to save some of the cosmetic products that have seen better days. Do you have bottles of nail polish that are getting thick? If so, you can save those by simply adding a few drops of nail polish remover into the bottle and give it a good shake. This method could also be used if you are running low on your favorite color of nail polish. Aging makeup tends to wear off of your face faster than the fresh new products. If this is the case, simply use a water bottle that sprays a fine mist to lock your makeup onto your face for the day. Make sure that the bottle puts out a very fine mist to avoid getting spotty results. Is your pressed powder becoming cracked? If so, simply use a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a q-tip or two. Apply the alcohol to the top of the powder gently. You will see the powder absorbing the alcohol and begin to heal the cracks that were in the powder. You can get many more uses out of your powder after doing this. Clean your makeup brushes often. If you do not take the time to clean your brushes at least once a week, you are going to find yourself needing to buy new ones quite often. You can use a brush cleaning solution to remove the makeup and dirt out of the brushes. Your makeup will look better once it is applied using a clean brush. Using disposable applicators for your makeup will make your makeup last much longer. Your mascara will not grow any bacteria like it would if you used the same applicator each day. Use disposable powder pads and eye shadow applicators to keep facial oils from becoming saturated in the powder and shadow pads. Know when it is time to get rid of your old makeup. If your makeup is expired or showing signs of being rancid, throw it out. It may cost money to replace it, but if it means that you will not get any infections or bacterial problems, it is worth the investment. If it is at all questionable, get rid of it. If your foundation is getting rather thick, you can use some of your moisturizer to mix with it to thin it out a bit. You may need to use a small jar to pour your foundation into so you can mix the two together well. After you do this, you will have to be sure to mix it thoroughly before you apply it to be sure that it is going to be applied evenly. There are times that makeup cannot be saved, but with as costly as it is to replace it, you should give it a try. Use these tips and see how many of your products you can save for just a few cents.
