Plumbing Tulsa– FAQs Here are a few plumbing questions that you might be asking. Whether you are buying a new home or currently dealing with a plumbing problem in the house where you are now staying, these FAQs might help. Go over them and see if you can solve your problem without having to acquire and pay for a plumbing Tulsa service. Plumbing Tulsa - How often should the septic tank be inspected? Make sure that the drain field of the septic tank is regularly inspected. Call in a plumbing company once in every three or four years. They will flush out the solid deposits from the drain field and its connecting pipes. The drain field is a little box below with three or four connecting pipes. If it gets damaged, you will be spending a lot of money for a replacement. Plumbing Tulsa – The septic tank had recently been pumped. Why do I have backups in the basement showers and sometimes in the sink? There are two possibilities. First, there is clogging in some (or all) pipes. You have to call your local plumbing company to open those pipes. Secondly, the drain is not working properly. If it is the problem, cleaning the pipes will not end the problem. The plumber will also check if too much sludge has already formed on the septic tanks in the basement. But sometimes, the backups may just be occurring seasonally, especially during rainy seasons. If that is the case, this only means that the amount of water coming is just too much for the drain field to handle. Discuss alternative solutions with the plumbing company. Plumbing Tulsa– I am replacing my old water heater? Can the pipe that was connected to the old water heater be used for the new one? The answer is yes. Usually, the pipe you are referring to is the pipe that acts as the recirculation line. This is a very important pipe because it is the pipe that keeps the water hot at that end of the water heater plumbing system and the one that acts as a “reducer” of hot water wastage. If that pipe goes to the drain floor, then it must be acting also as a pressure relief line. Plumbing Tulsa – My water heater isn’t old yet, but the pilot can’t be lighted on. Additionally, I found no residue at the bottom. When the pilot light is no longer functioning, go to the thermocouple. A thermocouple is a small generator that creates magnetic current. This generator should constantly produce magnetic current to make a certain gas valve there open. If that generator can no longer sense heat from the system, it will cause the pilot light to shut off. Replacement of the thermocouple is often the best solution for this kind of problem. Plumbing Tulsa – There is black mold appearing around my toilet’s base. What is this? There is a wax ring that seals the toilet’s base from the floor. If this ring is leaking, bacteria and molds will appear. That explains the strange color. Replacing the wax ring gasket is the best thing to do. This will require pulling the entire toilet off the floor. Call an expert if you are not sure what exactly to do.
