Income For Life How To Break Out Of Recession And Never Go To “Work” Again By Peter Wood This report is the property of Peter Wood and may not be sold, given away or otherwise distributed without the written consent of the author. You might as well face it. Trying to earn a decent living in the 21 st century by going to work for someone else, whether it be an individual or a big corporation, is never going to make you a fortune or anything even approaching it. In fact, barring the very top 2% of the population, virtually everyone else is scratching around trying to make enough to pay the bills. Yes, there is that top 2% who either own the businesses or have very high-powered jobs where a lot of time has been spent studying or training – for instance an airline pilot, research scientist, stockbroker, top navy and army personnel – but you are not among them or you would not be reading this. That is not to put you down – it’s just a fact of life in the 21 century. We could spend an hour or two moaning and complaining about fat cat bankers, and indeed many people will, but it is not going to alter the fact that the whole world is in a financial mess and, aside from perhaps making you feel better for a short while, it is not going to achieve anything. You just have to face it: working for someone else will NEVER give you what you want. Now you may think that what you want is lots of money – and perhaps you do think that. But money is not and never will be an end in itself. Money is a tool. It is to be used to achieve your end goal and although I have never met you I can tell you what your end goal is. That’s right – I know what you want – even if you presently do not! So I’m going to tell you what you want. What you want is to BE HAPPY. That’s it. You want to BE HAPPY! Think about this for a minute. Why do you want a nice flash car? It’s because it will make you happy. Why do you want a great relationship with your lover? Because it will make you happy. Why do you want a big house, long holidays, and a cottage in the country for weekends? Because it will make you happy. Now for some people it does not require a lot of money to make them happy. There are people who are genuinely happy working for a low wage, such as nurses for example, who are happy because helping other people makes them happy. Lots of money is a secondary thing to them and we should respect that. However, most of us do want the big house, the nice car and so on and to achieve that we do need money – and often we need lots of it. So, having accepted that we are never going to achieve lots of money working for others, what else is left? This may come as something of a shock, particularly if you are in a secure job, but the only other answer is to work for someone else. In this case, that someone else is YOU. Yes, you have to start your own business. You have to own it. You have to become the boss. And if that scares the heck out of you, just consider the alternative. I used the words “secure job” above. But in 2012/2013 there is no such thing as a secure job. I don’t care if you have been a loyal employee for 30 years. The fact is that many businesses are downsizing (that’s boss-speak for firing people!). And even though you’ve been there for 30 years, if it comes to the crunch what do you think will happen? If the boss can see his business going down the tubes if he doesn’t lay people off, what do you think he will do? You’re beginning to get the picture, aren’t you? If it is a choice between him losing his business or firing you which is it going to be? He’s going to look after number one – himself. And actually, you can’t blame him because if you are honest you know that you would do exactly the same thing in the same circumstances. OK, this may just have been a wake-up call for you – and indeed I hope it has. You absolutely MUST start working for yourself (and, of course, your family) because when push comes to shove nobody else is going to look after you. Now I am not suggesting that you quit your job tomorrow and strike out on your own like the goldminers of the 1880’s. You could do that, but it would be foolhardy. What you need to do is to start a sideline business that belongs to you and to you alone. Work extra hours by all means, but don’t just get a second “job” to help pay the bills. I’ve seen a number of people do that and they come to grief over it. Let’s just take a look. Let’s say you manage to get a second job working – oh, say ten hours a week – for $10 an hour. An extra $100 a week will come in very handy, pay the bills and maybe leave a bit over for some small luxuries. Great, you may think. Here’s where you come unstuck – big time. The prices of everything are going up – faster than they ever have. Two or three years ago, a price increase of say 5% on a product was regarded as ludicrous. When prices went up they did so by a few cents or pence. Today price inflation is absolutely galloping away. Let’s take some everyday examples. I went to buy some potatoes last week to discover that – overnight – the price had increased by 25%! A bottle of cider at Asda (that’s Walmart to you in the US) went from £1.49 to £2.00 – again overnight. That’s an increase of over 33%. And this is happening all over the place. The upshot of this is that the extra $100 you’ve just secured for yourself will be eaten up by inflation in as little as eighteen months. OK, so maybe you can still pay the bills – for the time being. But you are now working an extra ten hours a week JUST TO PAY THE BILLS! That doesn’t sound like a lot of fun to me. (Oh, and there’s always the danger that the extra job will dry up as well). So if you are going to work longer hours, you have to make absolutely sure that those extra hours are going to result in extra money for YOU, not just in the short term, but over the long run as well. And the ONLY way that is going to happen is if you work for YOU and for no-one else. So you are going to have to start a business. Still with me? And that business needs to be recession-proof and create residual income. What’s residual income? It’s income that keeps coming in WHETHER YOU WORK OR NOT. Sound crazy? It’s not. Every popsinger and musician gets residual income. They record a song just ONCE and then they get royalties on that song FOR EVER! Elvis has made more money since he died than he ever did when he was alive. How many times do you suppose Blue Suede Shoes gets played around the world every day? How long is that song? Two minutes? And every time it gets played, his estate gets paid. That’s residual income. Authors get residual income. Every time one of their books gets sold they get paid. Even if they wrote the book thirty years ago. I live in Broadstairs in Kent in the UK. This is the town that Charles Dickens loved to come to and stay beside the sea. He wrote many of his novels here. (He actually stayed in a house called Bleak House overlooking the harbour – after which he named one of his novels). Unfortunately for Dickens (and his heirs) they didn’t have ongoing royalties in those days. Had they done so, his descendants would all be millionaires without lifting a finger. So residual income is the holy grail – this is what you want to achieve. It means you can wake up in the morning and ask yourself this question: ”What do I fancy doing today?” Just imagine that. No worries. No job that you have to go to. Nothing you absolutely MUST do. OK, maybe a little bit of maintenance on your business here and there, but it can wait until tomorrow or the next day. “What do I fancy doing today?” Has a nice ring to it don’t you think? But first you have to have your business up and running and producing income in order for you to achieve that happy state. And you HAVE to start it part-time, running it alongside your job, until it is making enough for you to go to your boss and tell him “I quit!” So, what sort of business can you start that will help you get there? I’m going to give you some suggestions and the first one is something that I’m involved in myself. It’s a company called Empower Network. It’s been going for just over a year and now has over 70,000 people working with it. (I use the words “with it” rather than “for it” because everyone involved is effectively running their own business). EVERYONE started part-time. Doing just two things: writing a daily blog post – every day – and using free advertising to encourage others to do the same. Total time each day? About two hours. There is one guy who has been with the company since it started who earned – wait for it – just over $141,000 in October 2012 alone! That is not a misprint. That is one hundred and forty-one thousand dollars. OK, that’s exceptional, but there are several people earning $1,000 a DAY or more, and many more earning that a week. And each is running their own business, which will only get bigger as time goes on. (If you want to get the full scoop, you can click on this link): http://tinyurl.com/cuf5sgj So, what else? Well, this is where you need to get your thinking cap on. What you need to do is to brainstorm ideas. Get a sheet of paper or three and write down all the things you’re good at. Write down all the things that interest you, hobbies and so on. If you really did have to work for a living for the rest of your life, what would your ideal job be? Not the one you’ve got, obviously, but one that would have you getting out of bed in the morning full of enthusiasm because you can’t wait to get started. Ask your partner and friends for suggestions – they may come up with some real crackers that you hadn’t thought about. Ideally you want to start with something that you enjoy – something that you find fun to do. Trawl through your list until you find something that clicks. Or just keep adding to it. Or get on to Google and search. If you’re interested in golf, click on golf opportunities. Try golf forums to see what everyone is talking about. Read a few golf blogs and so on. What about internet marketing? Oh, dear, the pitfalls awaiting the unwary! There are hundreds of push-button “done for you” products out there which sell like hot cakes because that’s what everyone wants. They want something that magically produces money without doing any work. Sadly there is no such thing as a magic bullet. Three clicks and that’s it – you’re rich! But if you are prepared to put in the work it is indeed possible to make money in internet marketing. And you don’t have to be a genius to do it. Here in the UK, for example, we have John Thornhill. John has made over $8,000,000 online in the last few years, mainly by teaching others how to do the same thing he does. Oddly enough, just yesterday he showed me a picture of the place he used to work in. His job was to spraypaint car door panels on an assembly line – one every 90 seconds. Day in, day out. Can you imagine? You can Google John Thornhill (he’s got an amazing offer on one of his training courses at the moment) or go direct to johnthornhill.com Maybe you’d like to trade on the foreign currency markets? For this you DO need some start-up money, of course, and there is a risk element. So you need guidance from someone who clearly knows what they are doing. Try Googling Guy Cohen. Guy has been trading the markets successfully for years and has some really great information products to teach you how to do the same. What about eBay? It’s absolutely HUGE and probably utterly bewildering to the beginner. But thousands of people all over the world are making, not just a good living, but in many cases small fortunes selling on eBay. Once you have a product line set up it can run for years and all you need to do is to keep adding to it. Try Googling Amanda O’Brien. Amanda has been an eBay Powerseller for several years and has a couple of courses that you can buy. Another internet marketer (and also offline marketer) that you may care to take a look at is Robert Evans. Try Googling his company Capital Westland. Rob earns an easy $10,000 a week without doing more than a couple hours work a day (in his back garden office, to which I refer as his “shed”!). Again he has some (fairly cheap) products he will supply you to get you started. Here is another marketer who talks an awful lot of sense. Vick Strizheus teaches you how to make money using PAID online advertising. Yes – PAID advertising. But he teaches you how to do it starting very small and then gradually ramping it up. Vick earns several million dollars a year and swears he will never use anything other than paid advertising. He has a membership site, which is not cheap, but he also has some free video tutorials to get you started. Google High traffic Academy. It is my hope that this has given you some ideas to get you out of the rat-race and get you started on working for the only person who won’t let you down – YOU! Working for a boss sucks. It always has, but now it’s worse. You simply cannot afford – quite literally – to go on working for a business that will let you go without any warning just when it suits the boss/bosses. And believe me, there won’t be any warning. One day you go to work as usual, the next you have total freedom – you can do anything you want. There’s just one problem – you don’t have any income. Forgive me if one more time I mention Empower Network. Certainly I am biased because I’m doing very well with it – but when I started I was earning nothing with it, which is where everyone starts. For sure, it’s one of the only businesses I know where you can get started for pennies and everything you need – every tool – is included. You can get a free video explaining what it’s all about starring the founder of the company, David Wood, (he’s no relation) by clicking on this link: http://tinyurl.com/cuf5sgj Whatever you decide to do, make absolutely certain that from now on you are going to work for YOU and for no-one else. Your whole financial future depends on doing just that. I wish you every success. You deserve it, so now go and get it. Peter Wood
