What is cilium used for? Contributes to cellular motility and detects environmental cues and are generated/maintained by IFT (intraflagellar transport) What is the order of the receptors from top (closest to skin) to bottom? Meissner corpuscle Merkel cell Ruffini corpuscle Pacinian corpuscle What is Pacinian corpuscle? Sensitive to vibration and pressure What is Ruffini corpuscle? Sensitive to stretching of skin What is Merkel cell? Sensitive to light and touch What is Meissner corpuscle? Gives info on texture and pressure What is GPCR signalling? Helps identify environmental stimuli like light, odors They are coupled w/ heterotrimeric G proteins What are connexons? They are channels where electrical currents flow through in an electrical synapse What are gap junctions? Allow circuits to be synchronized. Allow signals to pass through to transfer information between cells.
