        Lecture 11 Notes                                  Define sexual dimorphism. Give an example of it  anatomical, behavioral, neurobiological differences between the sexes  leads to different parenting and reproductive behaviors in females and  males    male moths have a large antennae used for finding mates and female  moths have small antennae to find a good place to lay eggs    What is the SRY?   defining gene for phenotypic and genotypic males is found on the Y     Which neurotransmitters are involved when ppl are in love?   Oxytocin and vasopressin    What is AVPV?  cells in hypothalamus that regulate ovulatory cycle    What is fruitless?   Explains differences b/w gonads and sexual behavior in fruitflies    What is SDN­POA?  rodents have this group of nuclear cells that is larger in males than females  because males have more testosterone.     Why do females gain weight during pregnancy?   Because leptin signalling is suppressed in hypothalamus    How is lactation controlled?   PVN (paraventricular nucleus) and SON (supraoptic nucleus) found in  hypothalamus    Give examples of sensory feedback  giving birth, suckling of pups, vaginal distension
