The Structure of DNA 4. What is the shape of a DNA molecule? Double helix 5. A strand of DNA is constructed from a series of nucleotides. Name the three components of a nucleotide: nitrogenous base, a sugar molecule, and a phosphate group. 6. A DNA molecule has “sides” and “rungs”. a. What two molecules make up the sides? Sugar and phosphate b. What are the components of the rungs? Give the general name and then the names for all four types: General name: Nitrogenous base Four types: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T) What are the pairs that will bond together?
