Accused of being an atheist and corrupting the youth. He was charged with disrespect of the Gods of the city and introducing new gods. Why did the quest start? What did the oracle (young pretty girls) say? Socrates is the wisest. Socrates heard this then questioned people to find someone smarter then him and when he couldn't find anyone he then said he was the wisest man, because unlike people who claim they know it all he stated that he knows nothing. Socrates is found guilty by a narrow margin and is asked to propose a penalty,. Socrates jokingly suggest that if he were to get what he deserves he should be honored with a great meal for being of such service to the state. Socrates and death Why doesn’t death scare Socrates? 1 He said it was like going to sleep- peaceful 2 The potential of an afterlife and he could question people of the past.
