EDUC 314 Introduction to Discussion Lab Section 003 or 004 What to Expect from discussion TA has four main jobs:   review course material with you.  multiple choice, matching, review games, etc.  help you think “outside of the box” and discuss material in a different way.  discussion groups, jot thoughts, group work, etc.  clearly guide you on weekly assignments.   create an open line of communication about housekeeping and any other pertinent  information. How can I earn 10 points on my assignments each week? 1 point for “APA”  FONT: Times New Roman OR Arial  SIZE: 12 point; Double­Spaced  HEADING: Name, Date, Class, Section  CITATIONS: Not necessary unless a direct quote is pulled from the textbook, which  you’ll be using a lot to support your answers.  Title Page, Running Head, Abstract, Page Numbers are not required for this class. 1 point for “Organization”  Begin with a unique introductory paragraph to the assignment.  Indent new paragraphs  Address questions in order they are presented in directions.  Conclude with a unique reflection paragraph.  Ask yourself: Does my assignment look neat, organized, well thought out, and not  rushed? 5 points for “Content”  Respond to each question from directions.  Clearly elaborate to support your thinking. Provide several solid sentences to support  your thinking.  Usually, a full point is docked for not addressing a question/sub­question at all and  anywhere from 0.25 ­ 0.75 is deducted for not providing enough support in your  response. 2 points for “Reflection”  In last paragraph, provide reflective thoughts beyond responses and statements you have already made.  SUGGESTIONS: What am I still wondering or curious about? What other connections to content can I make that I haven’t already discussed? What is a question I have? Why do I  find this important to understand?
