It needs more fossil fuel to produce ethanol. If you are a policy maker, what would you do?  I do not support the use of ethanol o Raises prices of food  Actually harder on other farmers o Gas Introduction to Environmental Science Bridger Teton  National Forest (3.4 million Acres)  Virtually untouched by humans  Area 71 o Under consideration for oil reserves What can I do? Sustainable Development – Meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations.  As a word can be defined in several ways but in ES it is the CAPACITY OF NATURAL SYSTEMS to maintain human society by providing NATURAK RESOURCES AND SERVICES needed to survive and flourish  Vote use your political right  Power as a consumer  Network  Improve local environment Why Do we care?  Concept of sustainability is central to the study of ES  many environmental problems associated with lack of sustainability of resource use and human cultural systems.
