Quantitative- Large populations (sample) Qualitative- Collect life history (interviews) Stages of Fieldwork: 1. Preparation 2. Fieldwork- adaption, data, collection 3. Data analysis 4. Report writing Linguistic Anthropology: Language- is the main vehicle how we pass on culture.  Can be signed, written, spoken Descriptive Linguistics:  Phonology- sound  Morphology- use sounds to form into words  Syntax- put words into sentences  Semantics- what meaning do they have
