Basic Formulas + (Addition), - (Subtraction), / (Division), * (Multiplication), ^ (Exponent/Power) Basic Functions: 1. Sum Function =Sum(FirstCell:LastCell) -The cells in the parentheses is called the range of cells ex. =Sum(A1:A5), A1=1, A2=2, A3=3, A4=4, A5=5 Answer: 15 *Excel will automatically know the appropriate answer if the formula is correctly written 2. Average Function =Average(FirstCell#:LastCell#) 3. Max & Minimum Function =Max(FirstCell#:LastCell#) =Min(FirstCell#:LastCell#) 4. Count Functions =Count(FirstCell#:LastCell#) =CountA(FirstCell#:LastCell#) *Count function is for numeric data and CountA function is for non-numeric Numeric Data- data you do arithmetic on Non-Numeric Data- data you do not do arithmetic on CPU- central processing unit "Brain of Computer" 2. CPU Does 4 Funtions: 1. arithmetic (+,-,*,/,^) (1st computer only add and subtract) 2. Comparative Logic (can only determine if something is True or False) ex: 5<6 True, 6<6 False ex: CAT<dog True---words are stored as #'s and the # for cat is smaller than the # for dog 3. I/O (Input/Output) 4. Can move store and access data 3. Printing Spreadsheets Steps 1. Click print 2. Click on page setup 3. Set page to landscape 4. Move to next tab, add class and title/date headers using tool bar above header boxes 5. (optional) Move to next tab add gridlines 4. Printing Formulas Steps 1. Make a copy of the lab (click the + next to the name at the bottom of the lab) 2. Click on copy page if not already entered 3. Go to formula tab 4. Click show formulas 5. Adjust columns for new sizes 6. Print separate from lab print (be sure to have gridlines and column headings) *Printing section should already keep previous changes from lab printing
