Agrobacterium Ti Plasmids:  Nopaline plasmids  Octopine plasmids  Agropine plasmids  Ri plasmids Agrobacterium tumefaciens chromosomal genes:  ChvA + ChvB + pscA = needed for initial binding of the bacterium to plant cell and code for polysaccharide on bacterial cell surface.  ChvE= improves sensitivity to asg  T-DNA = opine syn and tumor production  Vir genes 1. Acetosyringone is produced by wounded plant cells (phenolic comp) 2. VirA auto(P) 3. VirA (P) VirG, activating VirG 4. VirG activates transcription from other vir promoter o VirB=membrane protein; ATP-binding o VirC= binds overdrive DNA o VirD= endonuclease nicks T-DNA (D1 & D2); nicks the lower strand (T- strand) at the right seq, and binds to the 5’ end o VirE= ssDNA binding protein. Binds T-strand  Oc genes = carried on the pTi; allows te bacterium to use opine as nutrient (opine catabolism) VirA= auto(P) at the His residue, and by transferring the (P) to an Asp residue to VirG (it activates the response regulator) VirG
