Geography 2.4.16 What’s going on with the weather today?  Any clouds? What do they look like­ wispy, lumpy, and sheety? Some wispy and lumpy  clouds with a lot of blue sky  Temperature­ warm or cold? Cold    Is it humid? Dry  Any precipitation? No  Is it windy? A little windy Chapter 5: Global Temperatures Heat v. Temperature  Heat: Flow and form of energy  Temperature: Kinetic energy of individual molecules.  Heat changes temperatures ( 4 methods of heat energy) Temperature Scales  Fahrenheit  Celsius  Kelvin Temperature Conversions  F to C: ­ C = 5/9 x( F ­ 32)  C to F: ­  F = ( 1.8 x C) + 32  C to K: ­ K = C + 273.15  A change of 10 C equals a change of 18 F Measuring Temperature – Thermometer  Thermometer measured with thermometer (Mercury and Alcohol)  ASOS: thermistor. ( white for high albedo with air vents to help with heat) (standard  height is 4 feet).  Satellites also used to measure temperature. Exam 1   Look for Exam 1 under “Assignments”  50 multiple choice and true or false questions plus 1­2 bonus questions  Worth 100 points and bonus questions worth 1 point.  The test has a time limit of 60 minutes.  You cannot use any cheat sheets, google, book, notes, classmate or friend. Formulas are  provided.  Press the “submit” button to submit your answer.  1 attempt per question.  You can skip a question by clicking the next button.  If you are timed out before the 60 minutes, send an email.  As soon as you complete the exam your score will appear.  You will be able to tell you which questions you got right or wrong after the exam period  ends, only until the Friday after the exam.
