Reading notes: Environmental Justice, American Indians and the Cultural Dilemma: Developing Environmental Management for Tribal Health and Well-being p. 228 - Main point: It talks about how much a pollutant people living a substance lifestyle is and how it effect NA. The authors show us how federalism approaches fail in the tribal context because they exclude important institutions and bases of knowledge that can help protect them. Tribes found another way to survive by using natural resources. Though in their circumstance protection is impossible since what needs to be protected isn’t defined or prioritized. p. 221 -MP: talks about EJ in tribal context and how it can’t be contemplated from the recognition of American Indian tribes and their circumstances. It also talks about the what type of government they have (sovereign govt.) and how they self-govern their citizens and territories. It also talks about their past contact with European settlers and where they are today. Base essay off of this article and you can use the footnotes
