Week 6 Notes • Friction Ridges- ﬁnger prints (3 basic shapes) • Innervation- has to do with nerves • Eponychium- cuticle • Nail Matrix- where the growing nail comes from • Sweat Glands- produce a watery solution • Sebaceous Glands- produce an oily solution that coats the hair shaft and the surface of the epidermis. • Vellus- ﬁne, uipigmented hair on the body • Terminal hair- hair on the head and beards • cerumun- earwax Lines of Cleavage- the way your collagen lines grow • • Alopecia- the extreme thinning of hair • 1st degree burn- sunburn • 2nd degree burn- blisters, down to the dermis • 3rd degree burn- subcutaneous layer, loss of feeling • Puncture- straight through the skin • Abrasion- scraping on the skin Laceration- cut on the skin • • Avulsion- when a body part has been cut off
