Week 6: Processes *on final* 2/22/16 1:07 PM ps ß command -e ß flag ß shows what everyone is working on -f ß flag ß shows what I’m working on PID = Process ID *Every process has to be spawned from another process (every process has a parent)* ß except init ps –ef ß shows absolutely everything, long listed Ex: Search for something that root did: ps –ef | grep root ctrl + c ß KILL signal to foreground process ctrl + z ß pauses process & after command, runs in background kill PID flags: -9 -KILL sleep ß “sleep (time in seconds)” sleeps background for that time jobs ß shows what jobs are going on in background sleep fg job# jobs bg job# 2/22/16 1:07 PM 2/22/16 1:07 PM
