HY 121/ Week 7 2/23/16  Boston Massacre-provides great opportunity for colonist to pick each other as the bad guy o Raises the level of this conflict as a war of words, and propaganda  Sons of Liberty-more violent, and aggressive, their job is to go into the country side and grab hold of the colonist who aren’t giving to radical thoughts, who is not participating in the boycott and talk them into it, beat them up into it, and burn their houses until they participate  Committee of Correspondence-lead by Samuel Adams (member of the Sons of Liberty) o It is to organize political radical activity for the purpose of extending activism with a pen o They are charged to write down what their so mad about and get it to Parliament o Their mad about taxes, and mad about English soldiers collecting taxes o Taxes = tyranny  British reacts by passing the separate tea act- leads to the Boston Tea Party  Passes another act and the colonist renamed it Coercive Acts (intolerable Acts) o 1) Massachusetts government Act-take out local officials and send over new officials  Forbid town meetings o 2) Administration of Justice Act- if a English soldier is in the colonies for the purpose of creating order and kills you, then that English soldier will not be tried in Massachusetts but will go back to England to be tried o 3) Quartering Act- the English government has the right to send over English soldiers and house them in any one’s house they want o 4) Boston Port Act- the government of England will shut down all commerce until the colonist straightens up st  1 Continental Congress- a political organization, has to put together a plan of resistants’ and organize what their agreements are, then write down a persuasive argument about why their rights are being trespassed o Plan of resistants’ is going to be a plan of boycott
