From the film, Inside Islam, I was corrected by any previous assumptions that I had made about the Islam community. It presented me with a lot of very surprising facts and data that I had no knowledge of or would even think of. For instance, what I found to be surprising was that only about 15% of Muslims are Arabs and not all Arabs are Muslims. Also the main amount of Muslims are actually located in Asia not in the middle east, which is where I though they were all from. The film also showed me that after 9/11 all American Muslims were afraid to leave their homes because of all hate crimes; however, they received a lot of support from other Americans which was surprising. To know that others were smart enough to ask questions instead of just blindly attack anyone who was Muslim. The film made me realize that America actually has no idea what the Muslim religion consists of. A statistic from the film was that 57% of Americans know nothing about Muslims. If they took the time to learn and understand that the majority of Muslims believe in peace and only a small percent of Muslims believes in terrorist attacks and it stems from their political views more than their religious views. Finally, the main concepts that I took away from this film is that Muslims are often misunderstood, and America needs to help solve their issues before an event like 9/11 happens again.
