HARMONY ● the simultaneous combination of notes and the relationship of intervals and chords ○ pitches simultaneously ● chord = 3 or more notes simultaneously ○ triad = a 3 note chord ● scale = a series of pitches in ascending or descending order ● octave = interval between highest and lowest notes on the scale ● the bass clef is the harmony ○ 3 notes stacked on top of one another = played at the same time ● from a scale, the composer selects the pitches to use for their melody and knows which pitch to combine into chords, creating the harmony
