Bhagirath 1  Neha Bhagirath  Tori Reeder  ENG 1020  Tuesday, July 19                               Infographic Proposal: Vegan Diets Better for Health  The argument in this infographic is that a vegan diet is beneficial in many aspects as  compared to other lifestyles. I am working alone and I chose this topic for my research essay in  Project 3 because it appealed to me, and also because few individuals are well informed  regarding this lifestyle. I wanted to educate myself further as well, due to following a vegan  lifestyle myself. People often inquire about my eating choices, and informing myself would help  me answer and educate others. There is not one aspect of my topic that is the most important; I  encompassed three general ideas in my research essay that I discussed and backed up with  examples from studies that had been conducted. My topics included the changes that cells  undergo to reverse or slow down diseases, the external effects on the body (weight loss and  more energy), and the increased vitamin and mineral density of plantbased vegan foods. My  information will be represented with images, as well as a graph or a chart to compare the effects  of vegan diets versus other ways of eating such as the omnivorous or the vegetarian diet. This  infographic will be aimed at anybody seeking a lifestyle change for any reason; veganism could  lessen the effects of a disease, assist those who experience fatigue or those with nutrient  deficiencies on their current diet. Aside from these problems, other issues may be resolved  through veganism, so it is not geared at only one audience, as maybe some infographics, such  as one concerning the topic of gun laws may be (this would likely not be aimed at children under  18, whereas my topic could be informing about a lifestyle change for anybody.) I will be using        Bhagirath  2   Piktochat to represent my information, because for a topic such as arguing veganism, it delivers  the claim with more contrast and effectiveness when the information is in a visual. The  representation of my ideas will support my argument because I can depict statistics in images  such as a pie graph to show the effects different types of diets have on different diseases. For  example, one study done that was cited in my essay had shown that those on an omnivorous  diet had seen the least difference in the symptoms of their diabetes after a specific period of  time, and vegetarians saw more of an impact  but vegans saw the greatest difference in their  blood sugar levels, and the effect that insulin had on their body. Another image that may be put  into a pie graph is one that portrays the different vitamins and minerals that the body needs, and  the nutrients obtained in plant based foods versus meats and omnivorous foods. This could be  shown with regards to protein, for example, because meat is touted as being dense in protein,  yet there are plant based foods that would deliver the same benefits, along with many other  nutrients. Therefore, I will use all these ideas, along with more specific statistics that were in my  Project 3, to inform about the healthier effects of a vegan diet.
