Chloe Lutomski BA101 April 11, 2016 STAR Question: Give me an example of a goal you set for yourself and how you achieved that goal. Situation: For my student organization, Euphoria ATX, we needed to raise money for our members. Our goal was to put on a musical show and sell at least thirty tickets. Task: Our team was responsible for finding a venue, booking artists, and promoting our event. I specifically was tasked with getting supporters to attend our show and get at least thirty people in the door. Actions: I approached people whom I did not know about coming out to support the event. The obstacles I faced were reaching out and trying to connect to people in a span of seven seconds. Being concise with my wording, informational about the event, and excited about the cause were some things I had to do in order to get people interested in the flyers and the show. Results/Reflection: By spending four hours outside recruiting music lovers, I managed to bring in twenty-seven people alone. This gave us $81, enough to cover the cost of the venue, the bands, and some fees for our organization. From this experience, I learned that you have to keep attempting to share your interest with many people to get the attention of just a few people. Hard work and perseverance go a long way in obtaining your goal.
