-cholecystectomy postop: No pushing, lifting No heavy lifting for 8 weeks? Splint (avoid atelectasis) NPO first day d/t nausea from surgery Liquids, then soft foods for a few days (maybe 3) after leaving Avoid fatty foods Call dr if experiencing abdominal pain Leg pain (may be d/t clot) -G-tube feeding: Use water to check for patency and administer before and after every feeding! -Colostomy (and ileostomy) irrigation: Use water! 1000 mL Wait 10 seconds before removing cone (paper) See bowel about 5-15 min after water goes in; it may take 45 min total; can then clamp -Nasogastric tube care: Irrigate with sterile water only! (Never NS!) Check patency of nostrils! Check pH!
