The lab consists of three questions focused on inputting data into an Excel chart. Then the data was used in calculations to determine values for pressure, volume, concentration, and temperature. From these charts, graphs were built to plot the points and show the relationship between the inputs and outputs. The two graphs included trendlines (or lines of best fit) to help predict future data. The data was correctly inputted and the calculations were all completed on the Excel spreadsheet. The data was also collected and used to find the proper figures for the graphs. For example, in the comparison of Farenheit versus Celsius graph, the lines of best fit were used to determine where Farenheit and Celsius have the same value. This value was determined to be -40.0 when setting the two lines equal to each other (x - 101 = 0.5556x - 73.889). Similarly, Excel was used to calculate the natural log of the concentrations in the second chart to create the graph, as seen in the calculations section. There was one error in the WebAssign problems for the lab, but that could have been caused by the number of significant figures in the answer, and not the actual answer itself. Since the lab was done entirely online/through the computer in spreadsheets, any error was significantly minimized or nonexistent since the computer did all of the calculations. While the lab itself may not be repeated, the Excel skills learned through it can be used in other experiments to create accurate lab reports and ensure that as much information as possible is correctly calculated. 8 / 8
