What is your caloric allowance? Do you think this is a sufficient amount for you? My caloric allowance is typically around 1800 and 2500 calories depending on how hungry I may be on any given day. I do not count calories anymore because it is very triggering for me so I try my best to listen to my hunger cues while also focusing on portion control. This is a sufficient amount for me because I am able to maintain a healthy weight while eating mostly nutrient dense foods and treating myself when desired. 2. What are all of your daily food group targets? Grains - 5, 2oz. servings Vegetables - 4, 1/2c. servings Fruits - 3, 1/2c. servings Dairy - 2, 8oz. servings Protein foods - 4, 4oz. servings 3. Before you plug in your 24 hour recall, do you feel that you meet, exceed or are under your daily food group targets and caloric recommendation? I do feel that I meet the necessary daily food group targets and caloric recommendations. After working with a nutritionist for many years, I have found that eating more carbohydrates helps me maintain my energy levels throughout the day and that I need to eat a greater amount of fruit than most people to keep my blood sugar level. I eat plenty of protein, as well, to keep me full and focused throughout the day. Now put in your foods for the past 24 hours and answer the following questions. 1. How many calories have you eaten in the past 24 hours; are you over, under or at your caloric recommendations? In the past 24 hours, I have eaten 1686 calories, which is under my caloric recommendations. Usually I consume more calories throughout the day, however, I was sick with the flu on the day I recorded my intake, therefore, to consume even this much food was quite a struggle. 2. What is the status of your daily food groups after you have put in your 24 hour recall? Grains - 61% Vegetables - 105% Fruits - 95% Dairy - 12% Protein foods - 101% 3. What is your analysis of your diet? Is your diet balanced and does it include a variety of foods? I definitely can work on eating more milk and yogurt throughout the day because I typically consume maybe one serving at most. I do not like milk that much and cheese upsets my stomach, so I might consider trying a calcium supplement. I eat enough fruits and vegetables and try to vary them day to day and my protein intake is satisfactory, as well. I can work on adding more whole grains to pair with my protein, such as brown rice and whole wheat bread.
