Zach New Bus 101-Current Event 4-26-2016 Wakabayashi, Daisuke. “Apple’s Watch Outpaced the iPhone in First Year”. The Wall Street Journal. April. 26, 2016. Online. An article I found interesting was “Apple’s Watch Outpaced the iPhone in First Year” by Daisuke Wakabayashi. Wakabayashi writes about the latest Apple Watches success and short cummings in the demand market. These watches are a part of a fun new expansion of Bluetooth technology that allows you to receive notifications and text messages, track your activity, exercise, and pay for things on your wrist. However, the watch is starting to lack purpose due to the facts that it has a short limited distance it can be away from the iPhone and all of its applications can be used on an iPhone or a wide variety of other less expensive devices. The watch also contains many issues such as low battery life and a very slow processor for third party apps. Putting all of these short cummings aside, Apple is still confident in the watch becoming a success believing that technology will improve and in a few years, then “It will be weird not to have a smartwatch.” As a smart watch user I think this article is very accurate on how much more useful a smart watch extension is than the phones or another device. Even though the smart watch is new, exciting, and cool to look at, its functions are no better than the actual phone. This relates to business because a Smart watches’ usefulness to the user controls the demand for the device, so, Apple is forced to gauge what price they charge the consumer based on this. Also, since most users do not find the watch much more useful than the phone, this could lead to a drop in profits and Apple to cut the price.
