Alix Simo      Through experience, life and learning, people develop many life philosophies. The  character Morrie; in the novel T uesdays With Morrie, explains many personal beliefs to a young  man/friend. A major life philosophie Morrie discuss’ in the novel is that one should not disregard  every rule of the community, but how one thinks and what one values, should be chosen by  oneself. Society should not determine one's perspective.   Morals are an important part of human development. Morals that reflect social norms  have become a systematic way of life. In  T he Classroom Morrie explains this by saying “Well for  one thing, the culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves, we're  teaching the wrong things, and you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesnt work,  dont buy it”. Meaning, today we have rules, laws, and culture to abide by. The system that has  been enforced in our society is working for the people of this world to help it run smoothly. One  should follow the rules in order to get through the rollercoaster that is life, but there is no rule on  what you believe in, and what morals a person has. The way people have grown up and what  youth  has been taught, determines what outlook on people and ourselves one will have in the  future, whether it is good or bad. Morrie explains one has to be strong enough to look past what  society tells people is beautiful, ugly, or wrong and if one's perspective is different than it should  embraced and the idea should be shared.   Society may determine how the world is run but it will never determine how much  meaning one has within their own mind. Morrie shares this in T he Audiovisual by saying “The  way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to the  community around you, and devote yourself to doing something that gives you purpose and  meaning”. No matter the person, or life one may have, the meaning of it will be discovered  through the experience brought to it.  Loving others and being devoted to positive life  experiences can only bring positive relationships, and meaning.  Morrie claims that abiding by  street signs is okay, but never let the mind be taken ahold of.
