F375 Un village français Episode 5 Notes- Marché noir (le 7 novembre 1940)  Raymond and Jeannine watch propaganda video about German army (?) o Talks to Marie, wants to see her again o Pétain and another French figure receive honors from Hitler; crowd boos o Raymond caught with Marie by Sarah in back room of theatre kissing  Sarah makes excuses for why work isn't done o Jeannine thinks she has no respect o Sarah worried she’ll lose her job from being at movie o Mutual agreement with Raymond to stay quiet  Someone at movie shouted during presentation; Von Ritter upset at Daniel o German police “know how to control” agitators, French didn't  Marcel caught by man who saw him handing out communist fliers o Chased by police, woman appears o Takes fliers before police get to Marcel  De Kervern does not want to find and turn over instigator to Germans o Daniel determined to find and keep him under French law o Daniel does not like Pétain’s friendliness with Hitler, but guesses he knows what he's doing o Wants others to stay out of it  Gustave did not write letter to Marshal (Pétain? Vichy?) for school o Marcel told him not to on principle  Marcel meeting woman in courtyard to talk o She burned the fliers out of caution o Wants to hand out many fliers, will work with Marcel o Introduces herself as Suzanne Richard  Marchetti interviewing o Man saw Sarah o Mentions she is Jewish o Goes to Schwartz’ house, told she wasn't there, didn't see anyone booing  Jeannine confronts Raymond about seeing Sarah at movie o Thinks Sarah is his mistress  Lorrain asks Marie about rent- did not pay Raymond during 3 quarter o Marie lies, says they will pay him back  Raymond catches Sarah with Bellini’s son in bed o Tells them not to contradict his story to police  Edmond (?) tells marcel that Suzanne is a socialist, not to be trusted o Thinks it's police entrapment  Marchetti interviews Sarah o Tells her of Camille’s (man’s) statement that she was there but not booing o Jewish and did not register, went out behind employer’s back, lied to police o Gives up Michele Bellini’s name  Lorrain lost motivation to work o Asks how Marie moved large furniture when he was gone o Pokes holes in her story o Man comes to requisition their horse, Lorrain gets mad  Marcel trusts Suzanne less o She plans to hand out fliers on a holiday- comrade warned marcel about not acting politically on that day o Newspapers left unattended- will slip fliers in o Tells her comrades want him to cut contact, but he's in  Mme. Morhange has dinner with De Kervern o Offers her job as his assistant- allowed under Jew laws o Hold hands o De Kervern thinks she should register as Jewish  Raymond goes to Marie’s house o Asks about yesterday (Lorrain pulled out gun) o Not the same since he got back o Lorrain mentions leaving- Raymond objects o Raymond offers to sell their pig on black market to help out; almost caught crossing border  Marchetti talks about suspect with Daniel and other investigator o Mentions michele’s name, told not to arrest o Would create political problem o Marchetti disagrees- need to arrest Bellini and promote order only, not based on class or wealth o Gets permission to arrest o Spills wine on jacket, tries to talk to Hortense  Raymond cutting pork to sell in black market o Jeannine drunk, comes in o “You're helping Marie…and Lorrain.” o Sarah told Jeannine everything, gets very upset  De Kervern and Marchetti interview Michele o Admits right away, didn't know booing “forbidden” o Has address book from Tequiero’s mother o Marchetti lets him go, keeps address book  Marchetti gives address book to Hortense
