Color Psychologies Color have associate meanings Red  Longest Wave length  Produces Sensation  Stimulates appetite Emotional Traits  Associated with passion Orange  "Declassifier" o Appeals to the broadest socio economic group o Companies use orange Yellow  Also known as a "Declassifier"  Holiday Inn has always used yellow to be more affordable Example: The colors of the McDonalds sign appeals to people's budgets because the colors express inexpensive.  Yellow is considered the fastest color o In terms of reaction, anxiety,  Yellow is the color of danger  Fun fact: Bright yellow cars are less likely to get into car accidents.  Yellow is on the lowest of the scale of what causes us to act or react.  Expresses caution. Green  Poisonous  Healthy, happy color  Used in examination rooms  Green bodily fluids are dangerous  Color of jealousy  Fun fact: Don’t wear green onto a bank when paying a loan, incites jealousy PINK makes you feel weak. Blue The sea, sky all blue Today is Virgin Mary birthday The Virgin Mary is always depicted in blue The color was seen as "precious" in biblical times because the color came from a special stone Blue Jeans/Blue Collar workers. What do you think about them Blue is the color of enforcement As you increase the value of blue, so does the value of a persons authority (ie. Blue Blood (in terms of status), Police, Fireman) People subconsciously react to that Purple Associated with depression Associated with royalty …because of its connection to the process of making the color in ancient times. Has the shortest wavelength (in the ultra light spectrum) Color is always going to be effected by the colors around it whether it looks lighter or darker.
