Erin O’Halloran SPC 2608 ECAssignment I have chosen to highlight the speech spoken byAshton Kutcher at the Teen Choice Awards in 2013. While this may seem or be thought of as an insignificant show, I believe this speech has resonated with me a few years later and made a real impact on my 16 year old self. He begins the speech by explaining that in this world of “Hollywood” we’ve grown up with, there are many insider secrets. Specifically his real name is not actuallyAshton, but Chris. This set a tone of humility and sharing this fact with the entire audience made me listen close.Ashton then explains his first point as finding opportunity, and by this he means hard work. His second tip is being really sexy. Yet he explains there is nothing sexier than being really smart and creating your own thoughts. His last point is not letting the world convince us that we live in this box and that is our only option. He encourages the audience to step out of this box and create our own world and accomplish anything we’d like. Throughout the entire speech he uses examples and words that relate to this audience of primarily young adults. He has a great sense of communication and I believe this is a huge reason why this is a speech I thought of to consider. He completely understands and has lived what he is speaking and trying to communicate to the audience.Ashton is also on this other side of fame that many of us watch on television, yet portrays himself as just another human being. Through humility and an exceptional use of communication he used his award acceptance speech to give advice to push us to see that so many things are possible.
