Ally Hamzey JRN 432  Dream publication assignment The three publications I would like to write for would be: Self magazine, Rolling Stone, Bust  magazine. For Self magazine, I would like to write a feature that could be titled, “How to love yourself on  your least confident days”. This feature would include tips and methods for young women to  have better body images, selfassurance, and acceptance on days where they feel unconfident.  I would include detailed healthy mental and physical steps for overcoming these dreary  moments. I think this feature would be perfect for Self because the book notes that “self confidence, selfassurance and a healthy, happy lifestyle are pivotal to Self readers.” This article would surely assist readers live an even happier, healthier lifestyle. For Bust magazine, I would write a feature titled, “The stigma behind the word feminist”. This  article would address the many misconceptions associated with the word feminism and the  reasoning behind some citizens’ reluctance to label themselves as a feminist. This would aim  towards educating some women and men unsure of the true meaning of the word, and for  feminist readers of Bust to relate to. This would be fit for the publication because they  specifically ask for articles “relating to women”, and on their website, ask, “Do you have an idea  for a reported feature that's feminist, sexy, smart, funny, surprising, and generally doesn't  suck?” This article could be surprising, funny, smart, and feminist of course. The female readers of this magazine would resonate greatly with this topic that effects their demographic audience  very directly. For Rolling Stone, I would write a feature titled, “How disliking music for being mainstream  became mainstream”. This piece would be more culturally focused, and examine how the  cultural popularity of disliking music that is popular on the charts came to be. Specific bands and musicians that are seen to be “basic” would be analyzed, compared to the general publics’  perception to such artists, and the “underground” public’s perception. Rolling Stone is an iconic  magazine for music lovers, and a large majority of music lovers are aware that in today’s day  and age, it is seemingly “uncool” to like an artist that is mainstream on the charts. This would be relatable to delve into for culturally and musically intrigued readers.
