Roles in the Theatre ● Stage Management ○ Central communication network ○ Always in loop and keeps everyone else in the loop ○ Multitasker ○ Oversees all departments ○ Takes notes during rehearsals ○ Blocking notes/tapes outline of set for actors rehearsals ● Scenery/Props ○ Designer designs the set, makes blueprints of the set, sets the mood of the show. Freelance designers usually work on more than one show at a time. ○ Assistant Designer(s) Attached to the production, answers questions and is there every day. Will sometimes work in the shop and will make models and drafts. ○ Shop ■ Technical Director (TD) In charge of the shop ■ Assistant Technical Directors (ATDs) Work under TD ■ Master Carpenter Very experienced builder, leads all big construction projects ■ Carpenters Assist Master Carpenter in building sets ■ Welders Work with any metal used in the show ■ Riggers In charge of the flys, responsible for making sure nothing falls. ■ Charge Scenic Artist Oversees all scenic painting, is in charge of all painters ■ Props designer Designs the props for the Props Artists to make
