Intro to Cognitive Neuroscience 9/7/16 Professor Desiree Budd, 473 Harvey Hall Class Structure Weekly Outlines Each week an overview outline of all material that is covered in the week including lectures, activities, online materials, thoughts, questions & the textbook readings must be compiled in your own words and turned into the appropriate drop box before class each Monday. Class Activities! During each week there will be a class activity of some sort, so attendance is recommended. Email Pen pal Project. You will be assigned a pen pal, someone who also is researching things similar to cognitive neuroscience, and you will have to summarize the information of 3 TED Talks. In the first email you’ll introduce yourself. In the next one you’ll pick a TED talk that will be in a list, watch it, and then email your pen pal about it, thoughts on it as well as the information. See D2L for more info. Syllabus Overview – See D2L for more. Zombie Diagnosis Project Over the course of the class, we will be watching segments from a Canadian Zombie Flick and you will be tasked with making observations of their behavior, generate a diagnosis at the end of the semester and present it with a group that you are assigned to. For more information look to the Syllabus on D2L. To do! Read Syllabus and other items in the material course folder on D2L, complete the Brain Knowledge Survey – It’s a survey, no need to look up answers, just an assessment of your knowledge about the brain up to this point. – The survey is among the things on D2L by class on Friday. And read Chapter 1 in both Textbooks!
