ENG212 – Error Log #1 ‘When You Shouldn’t Tell It Like It Is’ 1. I sympathise with the second woman more. 2. As the first woman can’t understand the action of the second woman, it takes more effort for the second woman to think of more excuses to reject the invitation. 3. The second woman needs to maintain a good relationship among the colleagues, but she doesn’t want more. 4. Also, people who don’t present their thoughts directly are usually shy and passive. 5. It may be a difficult task for the second woman to illustrate her thoughts to the first woman who has high demand of directness. 6. As there is a big difference between perceptions of honestly of the two different women, the misunderstanding may happen easily. 7. The second woman has been accused of dishonesty as the first woman treats indirectness as dishonesty. 8. Apart from the consideration of the relationship between the colleagues and ‘the crime she committed’, the attitude of the second woman toward politeness is under challenge. 9. The second woman treats vague answers are the best while the first woman doesn’t have the same concept. 10. This challenges the values of the second woman. 11. I sympathise with the second woman more because of misunderstanding of others, her characteristics, and the challenges from the environment.
