9/15/16  Outside speech critique o At least 10 minutes long o This semester o You have to be physically there you can’t watch it online o Speaker has to be introduced by someone and take questions at the end o 4-6 pages o Due in lab the week of October 17 th o 11 questions you need to answer o Get it peer edited  Informational presentation o 7-9 minutes o Know what you’re talking about o Know your audience o Choose a topic your classmates would also be interested in o Something you’re passionate about o Objective  What you want your audience to know/do because of your presentation  Tell them “After my presentation, you will _____” o Establish credibility for the topic o Pauses for effect  Single more powerful thing you can do with your voice  At least 2 seconds o Visual aids are optional  Keep text to minimum (not bullet points)  Image source all of your images  Insert blank black slide when you want to talk without having distractions  Practice with the technology o Don’t use filler words o Make eye contact with the whole audience o Keep your hands free but still use notes  Outline o Conclusion  Restate the must knows  Be specific about what you want your audience to remember  Say “thank you”  Questions don’t count towards time  Restate the question before you answer it o Include personal stories in any presentation you do  It draws in the audience
