The pink celling • In some places, discrimination camouflaged as business strategy “We are tolerant, but our customers might not be” is considered acceptable Discrimination: The employment non discrimination Act (ENDA) is a legislation proposed in the USA congress that would prohibit discriminating in hiring and employment on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity by employers with at least 15 employees LGBT-Supportive Policies: Benefits for Individuals • Less discrimination and increased openness about being LGBT • LGBT employees who spend considerable time and effort hiding their identity in the workplace, experience higher levels of stress and anxiety resulting in health problems and work related complaints. • Therefore LGBT friendly workplace will lead to the improved health, increased JOB SATISFACTION, better relationships with co- workers and supervisors, and greater work COMMITMENT among the LGBT workers. • Employers will benefit from lower legal costs related to discrimination lawsuits as well as lower health insurance cost, through improved health of employees. • Publicized discrimination causes customers to leave brands. With adoption of inclusive policies, the negative public image discrimination brings would be avoided, attracting customers who are eager to do business with socially responsible companies. •
