MY APA TEMPLATE      3 My APA Template This is the introduction of your paper.  Do not type “Introduction”.  Use the title of your  paper, not capitalized, as your introduction’s heading.  If we have other sources to use, make sure to cite them in the introduction section or discussion section.  You will use parenthetical citation  (Lantz, 2016), or you can refer to the author who wrote the paper as the subject of the sentence.   Lantz (2016) wrote this APA template. Methods Participants Indent the paragraph of your participants section.  Describe how many participants were  used in the experiment.  List any inclusion or exclusion criteria. Materials Include a list of everything we used to complete the experiment Procedures Experiment One.  Describe in detail everything that we did during the experiment.  This  section should be detailed enough that someone could read your procedures and replicate your  experiment. Experiment Two.  This is an example of a level 3 heading.  It is indented and bolded.   The paragraph in a level 3 section continues right after the heading and does not begin on the  next line. Results MY APA TEMPLATE      4 Indent this paragraph.  If you have a twopart experiment, then use the heading described  under the procedures section of this report. The first sentence of your results section will state what type of statistic you used to  analyze the results.  For example, “The results were analyzed using a pairedsamples ttest.”   Make sure that you italicize all statistics, but do not italicize the numbers.  Do not discuss the  meaning of the results in this section.  Only provide the data. Discussion Discuss the meaning of your results in the “discussion” section.  You should also discuss  the meaning of your findings or possible changes you would make to future reports. There are a few other important common APA mistakes that students make that you  should remember not to make.  Make sure not to leave a heading by itself at the end of a page.   Do not leave extra spacing between sections.  The Abstract and References pages have their own pages.  Make sure to use Times New Roman, Size 12 Font throughout.  Number all pages. MY APA TEMPLATE      5 References Lantz, E. (2016).  The title of a paper is not written in title caps in APA style.  Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1 (2), 15.
