September 8, 2016 • There are over 100 types of cancer and any part of the body can be affected • Tobacco use causes 22% of cancer deaths o ACS estimates jn 2013 174100 cancer deaths were caused by tobacco use • Half of cases in 2013 are liked to obesity, physical inactivity, and poor nutrition • 13.7 million Americans in 2012 with a history of cancer • Over 2 million skin cancers are diagnosed each year • 77% of all cancers are diagnosed in people 55 years or older • ~580,250 Americans were expected to die of cancer in 2013 • Cancer is the 2 most common cause of death in the US o Accounts for nearly 1 in 4 deaths • Childhood cancers account for 1% of all new cancer diagnoses • Cancer is the 2 leading cause of death in children • Colon cancer is the 3 most diagnosed cancer in men and women
