Week 1 Intro Notes What is Electronic Music? ➔ All music has electronic mediation, but certain sound qualifies as electronic music. How does sound work? ➔ Sound is the changes in air pressure ( or any other mediation aka water etc.) ➔ This involves human interaction (interpreting music or sound) Acoustics: sounds with no human contact (before they are interpreted) Psychoacoustics: sounds that have be in contact with a human Frequency: how often a given sound wave repeats Pitch: the speed of a sound wave Amplitude: how much air is displaced when sound occurs Volume: how loud a sound is Timbre: pure tone or tone color ➔ What makes certain sounds sound different (two people having different sounding voices)
