  CLEWISTON HIGH SCHOOL AVID CLUB APPLICATION      1. The name of the club  The name of the club/organization will be the Clewiston High School       AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Club. 2. The Purpose of the club  The purpose of the AVID club is to help prepare students to be eligible to attend  the four­year university or higher education institution of their choice. The AVID  club will guide students on their path through high school by incorporating AVID  techniques and methods and by allowing leadership and service opportunities. We will accomplish this by exploring colleges and careers and by utilizing AVID  methodologies to help each other academically and socially during our high  school years. 3. Rules of membership  In order to be in the AVID club you must have a minimum of a 2.0 grade point  average and satisfactory conduct ,as validated by a grade check form, and copy of  report card/progress report. You must also be dedicated to the club, have paid  your dues, and must attend a good majority of the meetings.    If any member fails to comply with outlined procedures, members will be placed  on Probation, until said individual can prove that he/she has satisfied club  membership guidelines. Members who do not comply with guidelines will have  demonstrated the desire to be removed from the club and will be removed from  the AVID club. Anyone removed from the AVID club will not be considered for  admittance until the next school year. Officers may allow an individual to remain  in the club subject to special circumstances.  4. Meetings:  There will be a meeting for officers the first Thursday of every month during  power hour, and there will be a club meeting the second and fourth week every  month. Every member must attend bi­weekly meetings in order to stay a full  member in the club. If an individual fails to meet these standards he/she will be  known as a temporary member and/or will be put on probation; subject to review  of officers. 5. Officers:  Officers shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian.  Elections will be held each Fall Semester.  The term of office is one school year.  Officers may be impeached if he/she fails to comply with the guidelines. Clewiston High School AVID Club 2016­2017   CLEWISTON HIGH SCHOOL AVID CLUB APPLICATION      6. Duties of the officers:  President: the President presides at the meetings of the AVID Club, and ensures  goals/policies and procedures are being met in a satisfactory manner. The  President will co­chair the Community Service Committee.  Vice President: the Vice President assists the president in the meeting, goals  policies and procedures contained here. In addition, vice president will serve as  President in his/her absence.  The Vice President will chair the Community  Service Committee.  Secretary: the secretary keeps accurate records of the meetings, attendance, etc.   The Secretary will chair the Academic Committee which is in charge of  grade/conduct checks and membership records.  Treasurer: the Treasurer is in charge of keeping track of the money and funds.   The Treasurer will help the Historian co­chair the Social Committee.  Historian: The Historian is in charge of informing the members when events take place, where they are taking place, and how. The Historian will chair the Social  Committee. 7. Committees:  The President and Vice President have the right to institute and approve  committees, and have the right of assigning individual members to committees.  The committees must report weekly or by assigned date, to President and the Vice President, on task(s) assigned. 8. Dues:  There are $5.00 dues which must be paid by the second meeting to be a full  member of the CHS AVID Club.
