English 215 Week 3 "Lusus Nuturae" by Margaret Atwood(p. 262-267) in Norton) story about girl with strange vampire condition, family constantly talking about what an abomination she is, -they faked her death and she now lives in secret in her house -exposed when she is outside and sees a couple entangled on the ground, recognizes their activity as a "fit" like she has and goes to join them, citizens find out she is alive, she is then truly killed "Recitatif" by Toni Morrison (p. 238-253 in Norton) Two girls of different race befriend each other at an orphanage, remeet later in life, internal conflict over what they may or may not have done wrong at the orphanage, story ends with the girls still in conflict as adults "St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolves" by Karen Russell(P. 267-279 in Norton) -pack of wolf sisters sent to train to be human at a nun's school, youngest sister refuses to comply, the sisters divide and conflict arises, explores the concept of malice and innocence and man vs beast, "The House of Asterion" by Jorge Luis Borges, (p. 279-283) -minotaur imprisoned in his home, but believes he is not imprisoned, again explores this animalistic innocence
