Tropical savanna ­ grasslands with scattered drought­resistant trees that usu. don’t exceed 10  meters in height Tropical rainforest ­ broad zone outside equator. Annual rainfall, which exceeds 2000 to 2250  millimeters Chaparral ­ very specific spatial distribution. Dry climate during fall, summer, spring months.  Precipitation falls mainly in winter. 300­750 millimeters mostly falling within 2­4 months. Don’t  drop leaves during dry season due to expense of replacement  Characterized by plants with sclerophyllous leaves  Scleros ­ hard     Phyll ­ leaf  Small leaves, thickened cuticles, glandular hairs and sunken stomata ­ all reduce water  loss Temperate Deciduous Forest ­ moderate climate and deciduous trees
