in the Solow model the saving rate is imposed and there is no representation of preferences The optimal growth model adds preferences for households and derives an optimal saving rate Utility is uncertainty One benefit of analyzing problems using dynamic programming is that the method extends very easily to a stochastic setting in which there is uncertainty We will introduce uncertainty as
