Stefania Medina 1042011 Informational Speech 4 Outline Information about Bed Bugs Introduction Did you know that a female bed bug can lay up to 500 eggs in a single lifetime Today I m going to tell you all about bed bugs These are becoming more common as time has progressed and especially in our college dorms and apartments cases are seen a lot So I think it is important for everyone to get the lowdown on these small bloodsucking insects Thesis Bed bugs are becoming a common infestation in households Main Point 1 Bed bugs can be caused by many different sources a Bed bugs can come from sources like pets clothing luggage or even other people s body b They are similar to roaches in that they easily transferred by other places where the infestation occurs Main Point 2 The physical appearance is important in learning about bed bugs a After knowing what they look like you would be able to figure out whether you have them in your bed b They are about of an inch long and look similar to an apple seed c Although the adults are easier to spot it is nearly impossible to see the eggs of a bed bug Main Point 3 There are many different ways of preventing bedbugs a You should keep a look out for pets if you see them scratching or having small red bumps b For places like dorms you should use a mattress cover and try not to bring a lot of used furniture c When on vacation you should place luggage on the folding rack and always place clothing in the dry clean bag provided by the hotel d If possible you should never bring a used mattress into your home Conclusion There are many diseases all around us but some that could be right in front of your eyes you sometimes tend to ignore Bed bugs are an infestation that can be harmful to your health and we should learn about them at a young age It is important to stay healthy organized and sanitary in order to prevent these types of infestations
