ethics issues currently in the news Explain the impact those examples of unethical behavior can have on an organization Explain the core issues of concern in the privacy debate whistleblowing due process trade secrets environmentalism hostile work environment truthinadvertising the problem of agency discrimination and fraud Effectively conduct an ethical analysis of a work related case or situation Identify the stakeholders involved in an ethical issue Develop an ethically defensible decision and articulate it Identify the ethical issues uniquely pertaining to their chosen major Explain the important role played by codes of conduct in the professional world Describe what effective managers do to promote an ethical organizational climate Required Text Gini amp Marcoux Case Learning Outcome Measurement Each student39s achievement in meeting this course s expected learning outcomes will be measured with four exams and twenty essay questions Material presented by guest speakers will be on exams Each student is responsible for bringing Scantron form 30423 to each exam Grades will be determined from the following weighted activities EXAM SET ONE 400 points EXAM SET TWO 400 points ATTENDANCE ESSAYS 200 points TOTAL 1000 points Exam Set One will be comprised of the first three exams Only each student39s two highest grades will be regarded as valid The lowest scored exam will be regarded as a makeup exam No other makeups will be allowed for Exam Set One It is up to the student as to whether the tossed exam belongs to an exam missed or to an exam taken Privacy rules prevent a professor from distinguishing between a student who missed an exam for a valid reason and a student who cut the exam because he or she felt ill prepared Each exam will be worth 200 points Students with a letter of excuse from the University for a missed exam may makeup the exam by special arrangements with the professor No score from Exam Set Two may be applied to Exam Set One Exam Set Two will be comprised of the second three exams The sixth exam is the final exam and it will be equally weighted with the other exams Only each student39s two highest grades will be regarded as valid The lowest scored exam will be regarded as a makeup exam No other makeups will be allowed for Exam Set Two It is up to the student as to whether the tossed exam belongs to an exam missed or to an exam taken Privacy rules prevent a professor from distinguishing between a student who missed an exam for a valid reason and a student who cut the exam because he or she felt ill One may be applied to Exam Set Two Twenty essay questions will be given during the course usually at the end of a class Students will be given adequate time to handwrite their papers and turn them in before leaving Each essay question will receive its 10 points plus 2 bonus points which can be used to cover a day missed or if not needed for that exam scores Points will be deducted if 1 the paper fails to meet the 100 word minimum If this seems too demanding simply consider that your professor used 252 words in this paragraph just to explain what is needed for each 100 word minimum paper and 2 the paper fails to convey that the student gave the essay question serious thought If a student turns in two or more papers every paper turned in will receive a score of zero These in class papers may not be madeup no matter what your reason Iffact professors are no longer allowed to know your reasons due to new privacy rights rules The bonus points 2 X 20 40 allow each student to miss four classes and still have perfect attendance Attendance will be posted on a spreadsheet posted on ecampus PLEASE NOTE Attendance means full attendance If the professor begins to notice that certain students habitually come into the classroom about twenty minutes before the class ends just to catch the attendance exercise two card scanners will be put into use at the beginning of class to correlate full attendance with the written essays Policies 1 Exam and attendance review requests must be presented to the professor within seven days after those points are posted Any student found cheating on an
