Alta mont Shortly after wood stock the Rolling Stones booked a tour selling out shows like Madison Square Garden Stones Concert in America August to December with the Altamont being the grand nally Opening Acts Tina Turner amp Stevie Wonder TO make the Hippies happy the Rolling Stones announced a free outdoor concert It was originally at the Golden Gate Park then moved to Searsport Motor Speedway Mike Lang and his crew set up the whole thing Stage was four feet from the ground amp three steps from the crowd The stones were the only ones who recorded the process of the concert and now they are making a killing for it No lighting or street lights There wasn t a gate to block off the stage from the crowd so the Hells Angels road their bikes to the front and parked them there And when the crowd started pushing forward they would start ghting with the crowd Security was awful a lot of ghts took place The Grateful Dead showed up and didn39t like the vibe of the place so they left leaving a four to ve hour gap inbetween the shows The stones wouldn39t go on until it was their set time do to the lighting they had set up The crowd grew bored fast Meredith Hunter pulled a gun during the show to shoot Mick but the crowded went wild and stabbed him to death 1969 Hippies got the idea that concerts were a rip off and music should be free 1970 Festival Express Train that went all across Canada Ken Walker was the promoter Staduim Shows The artist drunk the whole time Money didn t matter to them Tickets were 14 in Canadian money
