Steps amp Tips for Solving System Problems Step 1 Fetch the address of the instruction from the Program Counter PC Step 2 Go to the memory for the instruction and get the memory content from the address that was speci ed by PC Step 3 Use the first three digits of the memory content to nd out the opcode of the instruction from the Instruction Set table Step 4 Use the last ve digits of the instruction to nd the operand o Operand is the data that will be used in the operation if it is an immediate operation such as LDAI ADDI and SUBI o Operand is used to nd the memory address of the data that will be used in the operation if it is a memory operation such as LDAM ADDM and SUBM Step 5 Execute the instruction Do the necessary changes on the accumulator content and on the memory content Change the memory content if it STAM Or stop the execution if it is a HALT operation HALT operation does not effect the memory and accumulator Step 6 Go to Step 1 if the last instruction is not HALT Tips about lling program execution table Initial content of the accumulator must be garbage Only HALT and STAM does not change the accumulator content If the content of the memory was changed by storing data in it use the latest available memory content
