Date Created: 03/15/16
3/24/16 Modern Islam 1.  PLO: In 1970 King Hussan become one of our better allies when he kicked the PLO out              Jordon. He had finally lost all patience in what was his normal, relaxed demeanor.   1972: Attacking the Olympic Games was such a spectacle more for the fact that they broke the  sanctity of the games than the actual attack itself. 2. The spikes shown would be a result of triggering events to cause such a drastic change. 3.  Golden areas are where the Palestinians have total and complete control. Red areas are sole Israeli settlements. 4.  2nd Intifada (uprising)  Mass Casualties  Country in the state of chronic, lowlevel warfare. We have a whole population dedicated to  Their extermination. If it was reversed (Israelis vs Palestinians) the war wouldn’t last long. The Israel military was / is very powerful.  ** We would not let them fight to the death. We would intervene before that happened. 5.  High population areas has wall density similar to the Berlin wall. Low area is more like our  Fence along the Mexican border.  Reality is that this was has, in fact, reduced the terrorists attacks. It was built in response to the bombings that kept taking place. Consequently, the violence has been reduced to lowtech because of these checkpoints. It is much easier to smuggle in a knife, now, instead of a bomb. Which is the same when dealing with the terrorists: it is easier / safer to stop someone with a knife, than a bomb. 6.  Partial and early list of targeted assassinations.  It's controversial because its preemptive, there is no trial, clandestine measures and there has been collateral (civilian) damages.  If you kill in preemption, there WILL be collateral damages. No matter what.  This is why the Israelis have been scrutinized so harshly. 7./8. This is why the Palestinians will lose the war. They always get the raw end of the deal.  Palestinians use people to fight, while the Israelis use tanks and militant machines.  ** If you don’t convince the enemy that they’re beaten 100%, you will, more than likely, have  another war.  These casualties are not high enough to truly declare war. ** Palestinians think they can sustain these losses. These deaths become Martyrs.  3/24/16 Modern Islam 9./10. The numbers get worse after 2003  The “banner bearer” is Al Qaeda. They are the face of these terroristic attacks. Though we Have essentially destroyed Al Qaeda altogether.  Kashmir is the local hot spot for terrorism.  Hezbaliah “outsourced” to their terrorism wing. They sometimes go under the title Islamic Jihad to save face.  11. Israelis death count. 12. Muslim brotherhood  probably singlehandedly the most successful group. MBH in every location gave birth to Hamas, ect.  Palestinians have become somewhat modernized; Israelis wanted to counter this in the  early 90’s.  Killings at the Mosque Massacre (1994) is used as justification as what is to come.  Implied suicide bombings came after the massacre, but that is not true.   The “Middle East Peace Process” does not exist. 13. Sharon  Military / Spec Ops back ground and wants to stir the pot.  Temple Mound: on top of the Dome of the Rock  extremely prevelent mosque. The Dome needs to be destroyed so the Temple Mount can be rebuilt according to the prophet.  Between 20002005 is when the wall was beginning to be thought of.  The aid was cut off to Hamas because it had been blacklisted as Terrorists. 14./15.  Bombed indiscriminately because they don’t truly care who they kill. They get the rockets from the black market which decreases the accuracy, though they do not really care. ** The lack of numerous casualties was not from the lack of trying. They shot thousands Of rockets, but the quality of the weapons decreased the casualty rate.  16./17.  Hezbollah: Shia has been the majority Muslim population from Lebanon and on. Why do we believe Hezbollah = Jihad?  Very organized and funded.  This was not some radical working from his basement.  Doesn’t have the signature of Hamas.  Both groups will interact in transnational terrorism. 3/24/16 Modern Islam 18./19.  Census is very old!!  Shia still dominating, unknown of how much.  Christianity has shrank dramatically.  Maronites, coastal population and heavy in trade.  Druze considered infidels by other Muslims.  Gran has heavy Hezbollah domination. 20. Frequently changes name  were known for Western kidnapping.  Everything leads back to Hezbollah.  Got these prisoners back, but at the expense of Reagan's presidency.   Using money wouldn’t really solve anything with these terrorists. ** The Middle East Peace Process is really a graveyard for US presidents. ** Will never work, MEPP, after 9/11. 21. Al Qaeda got the transnational idea from Hezbollah.               It is thought Hezbollah would not get along well with ISIS. 22. Cooling it down ** Segregation will keep a sliver of peace. Which is why the UN owns these specific lands.  One of the few places where the UN peacekeeping seems to work. Due to strong backing of the US and Afghanistan government. 3/24/16 Jihadism 23. Islam last of 1 of 3 great theisms (monotheism).  Muhammad had the “audacity” to question if these idols within the great Mosque even  existed. People payed to pray to these idols and the “owning” family was not pleased.  Muslim armies take these areas in Muhammad's name. Prime example of zealotism. 24. Initial conquest of Islam incorporates 70% of its reigning land. Important to notate that Spain was involved.  The slaying of Muhammad’s descendent led to the Persian regime. Persia becomes very powerful.   Iraq = Doom. Because of the Suni, Shia and the Curds all oppose one another. 25. It’s possible all of Europe would’ve been Islamic, but it’s not because of Charles “The Hammer” Martel. He was basically the only man who knew how to fight in the area.  Spain will revert back to Christianity after being held as Muslim for awhile.
