Madrid is the capital of Spain It has 6 million people – it is the most populated/congested city in the country Stress comes from traffic, noise from the street, people rushing to their jobs, crowded roads/busses/trains, angry drivers, long lines for museums/shows Day to day life is stressful The man’s dog provides relaxation Ways to combat stress: o Parque del Retiro: Popular among retired people Plenty of ways to relax 300 acres Lots of fountains, ponds (estanques), monuments, museums, and art exhibits People also go here to jog/do exercise, meetup with friends, take a rowboat onto the pond, get a massage, see a fortune teller (adivino) o Los Baños Árabes (Arab baths) del Medina Mayrit Dates back to when the Arabs controlled Spain In the center of Madrid, near the Puerta del Sol 3 rooms with water of different temperatures There’s a steam room and a resting room to drink tea in There’s also a tea room with lots of different types of teas and Arabic candy/pastries
