Group Projects Life Span Human Development GPSYC 160 Purpose The reason for group research is for each student to gain a better understanding of the subject matter by cooperative learning and to present the findings in an interesting manner This is a GROUP PROJECT not individuals taking a certain subtopic and reporting at the same time The presentation must fit together as a whole If you forget something or someone is absent you must still present Group Size Each group will have 5 students except One group will have 6 After one group tells me they have 6 group members all other groups may have only 5 Length Each presentation is to be 1530 minutes long Plan ahead and practice We will have class after the presentation j Include the following Demonstration Show Don t tell Visual If using power point posters or overheads no more than 3 or 4 main points per page Become familiar with classroom equipment in advance You may use movie clips Limit time to less than 3 minutes No R or NC 17 rated scenes Not everyone has to stand up in front of the class Some members may conduct research design and create visuals etc The grade will depend on how your fellow group members rate your contribution K Bibliography At least 6 sources not including your text Online sources ending in edu may indicate research based material At least one must not be from the internet Le a book movie that is on the subject etc One of the sources may be a knowledgeable person in the field Check with the instructor prior to the interview APA Style Meet with the instructor at least once prior to presenting Each group or group representative I will be available before or after class at your request Or by appointment at other times 39 Email is the best way to find me when not in Class K The day of the presentation Introduce each student at the beginning of the presentation Before the presentation hand in the following in a folder Copy of visuals andor handouts If power points slides provide 6 slides per page stapled Bibliography Four well thought out multiple choice questions Group Grade Sheet One per group If you use power point also email a copy to teacher at isparrow750yahoocom may be mailed following the presentation Each student will turn in Individual s Grading Form Available on Blackboard under Course Documents Due on day of presentation or by the next class day May turn in by email Send to isparrow750yahoocom No grades will be assigned to any group member until all individuals in the group have turned in this form Grading Grades will not be given until all forms for that group are turned in s Individual may earn up to 100 points Grading will take the following into account Knowledge of Subject DemonstrationPresentation Clear able to understand easily Creative Visual aids Concise and clear Class involvement Your individual involvement Grades will reflect The instructor s observations Evaluations from your group members Written responses from your classmates
