Lindsay Allen EDT 3470 Brian Horvitz Kaboose Kid s Domain Summaries The first aspect of this website I explored was the Safe Sur ng Guide It was found under the website httn kaboose M quotf surfparents quot r html This was found in the parents tools section of the website However it is not just helpful for parents it can also be of great use in the classroom For instance this section touches on issues such as what children can find on the intemet like gambling predators and other inappropriate materials It also gives great tips for any person using the internet Such as email safety and courtesy One page of this website goes into safe email usage and chat room etiquette Another part of this website gives a list of websites and programs that can help any adult monitor a child s intemet usage as well as a list of filters that you can use either on your family s pc or in a school or classroom The information is very important for a child s safety on the intemet not only can you use it in the classroom but you can also pass this very important knowledge onto parents within the school Many of these things can go overlooked and this website offers reminders and how to deal with different computer and intemet security issues The second part of the website I reviewed was Computer Connections Inside and Ou It can be found under the website httn39 J quot kaboose com tutoringbrain computerlessonhtml This is found under the parents section under the tutoring and resources tab This page of the website offers all types of information on basic computer usage From using a computer to keeping it running well to keeping it clean both on the inside and outside this site offers all types of worksheets and activities to reinforce what it explains to you These resources can be used in a classroom with the students depending on the age or also with parents that are unaware of certain computer functions The page also gives a break down of vocabulary that makes it much easier on someone that is not computer literate Some things are taken for granted by people that use computers on an everyday basis This site helps to break down all of these aspects and also gives activities of reinforcement Finally the third part of the website that I reviewed was the Computer Toolbox This was found at httpwww 39K39 39 39 39 downpc com39outer quot inquot v html It is found under the pc tab on the website It is extremely useful in the classroom This part of the website offers all kinds of downloadable software and it is broken down into age groups It is not only useful for adults but all the way down to children age 2 There are plenty of free and safe downloads and demos that can be tested out within your classroom Yet again it also offers things for parents to use The more parents can help out with the students at home the more the students will get out of their computer time All of these downloads offer something different from the educational to the entertaining The children can use these downloads in the classroom and then go home and download the same program that they were using in their class earlier that day
